Work-in-Progress: BeaTch N Candy

Beatch N Candy is an experimental performance that blurs the boundaries between contemporary circus, feminist art and culinary aesthetics. In a Willy Wonka world of sugar, Amina Riccetti Kummer and Camilla Ravaioli immerse themselves in the story of the Little Mermaid and explore life in a female body, its social perception and the meaning of (dis)ability.

The real world dissolves into a surrealistic, timeless representation of bodies. With playful aesthetics, the performance questions the usual standards of beauty and invites us to question our own existence on a sensory journey.

Amina is a Vienna-based circus artist with experience in environmental sciences and the art of confectionery: she won prizes at national confectionery competitions, graduated from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences and studied circus arts in London (UK) and Turin (Italy).

Camilla Ravaioli is a deaf circus artist who started training in circus, especially aerial acrobatics, as a teenager. She completed three years of dance training at Kataklò in Milan and then a technical year at the Flic circus school in Turin, where she met Amina. With the dramaturgical support of Arne Mannott and Corinne Eckenstein, they developed the story of the Little Mermaid into an experimental circus performance for young audiences.
