Residences

Every year, Zirkusquartier invites numerous circus artists to take part in residencies of varying lengths.
These often end with a public show (work in progress, tryout) or a public workshop.

Duration

We offer residencies of 1 week in the research phase, for projects in an advanced phase with a dossier we offer residencies of 1-3 weeks.

Application

There are 2 allocation rounds for the residences. The first round allows us to plan for the long term and the remaining places are allocated in the second round.

Fall / Winter (September – February)

  • 1st award round: Applications until March 1, 2025
  • 2nd award round: Applications until July 1, 2025

Spring / Summer (March – August)

  • 1st award round: Applications until September 1, 2024
  • 2nd award round: Applications until January 6, 2025

For an application we need:

Approximately one A4 page with a project description of what you would like to do. If you have sketches, inspirational photos or videos, you are welcome to attach them. In addition, a short CV of all participants. Please also indicate your space requirements, what you need technically and when you would like to come.

There is the possibility to show a work-in-progress at the end of the residency.

The residencies take place in the event room. In the event room there are suspension points/tensioning points, a sound system with AUX connection and a few lighting moods that are easy to operate. You can find more information about the infrastructure here.

The event room is only separated from the training room by a curtain. There is usually no activity in the training room in the morning, so it is quiet. From 12.00 to 15.15 there is open training for professionals, it can be agreed with you whether you are allowed to play music or not. There are weekly courses from Mondays to Thursdays from 3.30 pm to around 10 pm. The courses are easy to hear and have priority at this time. The event room can be used at a moderate volume during this time.
