ZirQus Festival 2026

What does it feel like to find balance together?

Children and adults discover the world of balancing in a playful way—using their own bodies, on their feet, on their hands, or together with a partner.

Through simple exercises, we learn to be mindful of ourselves and responsive to one another. Sometimes it’s about standing still, other times it’s about maintaining balance together or supporting one another. This leads to small challenges, plenty of movement, and lots of fun moments.

Try new things, build confidence, and get to know your own body in a playful way: Whether you’re young or old, on your own or with your family—everyone can join in. No pressure, no prior experience required—just lots of fun, curiosity, and circus energy.

The workshop lasts 90 minutes; you can drop in and out at any time.

Workshop-leadership

Lara Schawalder

Lara Schawalder grew up in the Zurich Oberland. At the age of 20, she went to Paris for seven years, attended the ECM-ISAS musical school and trained at the Les Noctambules circus school, where she specialized in floor acrobatics and aerial silk. Since then, she has worked at home and abroad as an artist and is regularly teaching children, teenagers and adults.

Jeele Johannsen

Jeele Johannsen, born in 1997 and raised in Berlin, has sought to develop his skills equally in the fields of theater, dance, acrobatics, and music. Among other things, he created a dance-theater piece that was selected by the Tanztreffen der Jugend (2016), gave concerts as a singer-songwriter, toured as a performer with Zirkus Chnopf (Zurich) in 2017, and earned his BA in Physical Theater from the Accademia Teatro Dimitri in 2020. Together with Margot Prod’hom, he produced the full-length solo piece “Die Qual der Wahl” and, most recently, the production “ERWACHEN” at the Theater der Künste in Zurich. With his recent Master’s degree in Acting from the Zurich University of the Arts, he is active in various projects at theaters and in the independent arts scene as an actor, acrobat, dancer, musician, choreographer, and director.
