The time is almost here: The move of the Zirkusquartier to the new Koch-Quartier is just around the corner! What does the move mean for the services offered to professional circus artists? What will happen during the move, and what will change at the new location?

The Zirkusquartier thrives on its audience, an active and diverse community of professionals, and its class participants. The move to the new Zirkusquartier brings with it changes both big and small, and we’d like to involve the professional community in this process through this Circ-Exchange.

Nik and Charlotte, the co-directors of the Zirkusquartier, share everything you need to know about the professional programs during the move and at the new location. They cover the new facilities and infrastructure, the schedules for professional training, and the application deadlines for residencies, co-productions, and open calls.

Following a presentation by Nik and Charlotte, there will be time for questions and discussion. Afterwards, at 6:00 PM, Cie Strates will hold a work-in-progress sharing session.

Workshop-leadership

Nik Huber & Charlotte Mathiessen
Co-Leitung Zirkusquartier

Nik began his time at Zirkusquartier in 2023 as general manager. Charlotte joined him in 2024, and the two have been co-directing Zirkusquartier ever since. Together, they are responsible for the development of the organization, the team, and the programming. In preparation for the Zirkusquartier’s move to the new Koch-Quartier, the co-directors—with the active support of all staff members and the board—are working to prepare the organization and its program at every level for this major change. Their work—both in operations and programming—is characterized by attention to detail, communication on an equal footing, and a spirit of experimentation. In addition to their multifaceted work at the Zirkusquartier, both work as artists in independent theater projects—Nik as a set designer and Charlotte as a choreographer and dramaturg. They bring these experiences and their connection to the independent theater scene to their work at the Zirkusquartier, and these elements are an important part of their work.
