This workshop teaches the basics of Chinese pole. It’s ideal for beginners and anyone who wants to deepen or refresh their foundational skills. The Chinese pole is an impressive discipline within the circus arts, in which performers execute acrobatic moves on a vertical, rubber-coated pole. Unlike pole dancing, the Chinese pole is taller and, thanks to its special coating, allows for a wide variety of tricks and poses.

In this workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to learn the basics of this art form under the guidance of two experienced Artists. The course begins with floor exercises and gradually takes you higher. You’ll learn techniques such as climbing, holding positions, sliding, and transitions. No prior experience is required, but being physically fit is an advantage.

Anna Kapp

Anna Kapp is a circus artist originally from Geneva who now lives in Zurich. She holds a degree in circus and performing arts with a specialization in the Chinese pole, which she fell in love with in 2017. In addition to the Chinese pole, she also practices aerial hoop, burlesque, pole dance, and hula hoop. In her own practice, she focuses on fluid movements, soft lines, and static strength.

Christoph Tergau

Christoph has been practicing Chinese pole for nine years. He has explored a dynamic and creative approach to this discipline in depth. Drawing on his extensive expertise, he helps participants further develop their skills in spins, flips, and beats. He also helps them discover the process of conceiving and executing a new movement.

He speaks French, German, and English and is willing to share his experience with this device to support the participants in their development.
