Work-in-Progress: alive and kickin’
“alive and kickin'” celebrates soccer, challenges stereotypes and takes a humorous and virtuoso look at the still unachieved equality and racist prejudices in sport. With dynamic choreography, serious and humorous narratives and special effects such as smoking balls, the strength, determination and vulnerability of footballers are staged and the audience is inspired to question prejudiced attributions. “alive and kickin'” champions diversity and equal opportunities and encourages conversations about representation in the world of sport. Foot juggling, soccer freestyle, dance and texts in different languages (German, English, Turkish, etc.) not only deconstruct the game and ball control, but also reflect and question sporting events in a globalized world. The show breaks expectations and invites us to laugh together. A call to change perceptions and question prejudices. A project that goes beyond the game and incorporates overcoming barriers and celebrating everyone in sport.
