Co-productions

Production, rehearsals, support

Thanks to several years of concept funding from the City of Zurich, the Zirkusquartier is able to co-produce around four creations a year, one of which is from Zirkus Chnopf.
In addition to contributing to the production budget, we provide advice and support and make our infrastructure available to the companies for research and rehearsals.
As a rule, the ZQ co-productions celebrate their premiere with us.

Co-production

Artists who are based in Switzerland or have a strong connection to the Zirkusquartier can apply for a co-production at the Zirkusquartier. As a rule, artists or groups who have already done a residency or a show at Zirkusquartier are selected. Production experience is an advantage. We can support two regular co-productions per year and are therefore very selective.

Application

For an application we need:

  • A dossier or project description
  • A brief explanation of why you would like to work at Zirkusquartier

If you have sketches, inspiration photos or videos, you are welcome to attach them. It is also possible to arrange a meeting with Nik and Charlotte to talk about a possible co-production.

There are two application deadlines each year: July 15 and December 15

Co-productions require a longer lead time than guest performances or residencies. It takes around 1.5 years from the application to the premiere of a co-production.

Start-up co-production

The start-up co-production is intended for artists at the beginning of their career who want to establish themselves in Switzerland and realize their first full-length production. In addition to a co-production contribution, the ZQ also offers further support and accompanies the process. There is one start-up co-production per year.

The start-up co-production format includes:

  • A co-production contribution
  • Rehearsal rooms for 3-5 weeks at the ZQ
  • Support and technical hours for the development of a lighting concept
  • Support with dossier work
  • Dramaturgical consulting

The application deadline for the start-up co-production is December 15.
