Work-in-Progress: Mano Vos – Artist in Focus

Continuing to spin the wheel quickly became unbearable. I felt like I was losing myself in inertia, leaving awareness and control behind. So I focused on the weight, on my chosen essence of this practice. On the weight we give and the weight we receive, and their balance: the counterweight.

In fact, a first interaction between an object and our body is nothing more than a touch – the placement of a certain load. In my case, the weight has an impact on the entire body-apparatus system. To emphasize this, I started carrying my bike. Handling a 17 kg object is not without risk, so full awareness of each movement is essential. To achieve this, I work with breathing and the repetition of movements. These two aspects allow me to persevere for long periods of time despite the increasing exhaustion that my practice entails.
