This course is aimed at children aged 4-10 years and is a new form of teaching that the Zirkusquartier would like to promote: 20 children of different ages are accompanied by two trainers on their joint journey of discovery through the various circus disciplines. The younger children benefit from the experience and strength of the older ones and the older ones improve their own skills by helping the younger ones. No one will be excluded from a higher level because of their age and no one will be stopped in their development. The group starts together, then continues to work at different levels and comes back together to exchange ideas and finish. Many exciting acrobatic forms are only possible with small and larger people. For example, a pyramid requires small, light but also larger, stronger children. In this way, the different ages complement each other and can achieve more together than in age-segregated classes.

  • The entire acrobatic repertoire is available at all times.
  • The promotion of high-performing participants takes place almost automatically.
  • The community among the participants is strengthened.

We playfully develop strength, coordination and flexibility and practise the basic acrobatic figures on the floor – rolls, wheels, headstands and handstands. The joy of movement and creativity in doing things together are just as important as the precise teaching of the basics. The children refine their self-awareness and strengthen their self-confidence: the best preparation for any further art of movement!

Clothing: Comfortable sportswear. Turntäppeli or barefoot. In the winter months, we recommend long training clothes for before and after the course. Children with long hair should have a hair tie with them.

Luisa Schmitz

Luisa Schmitz was born in Zurich and works as a dancer, choreographer, coach and dance teacher. She completed her bachelor’s degree in stage dance and choreography at the Fontys Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tilburg (NL). She spent two years on the road as an artist with Zirkus Chnopf and has been teaching circus and movement to children and teenagers ever since. She teaches children the art of circus in an encouraging and motivating way. When she is not teaching, she tours Europe with her own clown duo or walks through the woods of Zurich with her dog.

Aniko Serfözö

Aniko was born into a family of artists. Her decision to become a circus artist was motivated by her first visit to Circus Conelli in her early childhood. With ambition and discipline, she followed her path through the children’s circus and the art and sports school to the Berlin State Artists’ School. Since graduating in 2009, she has successfully established herself as a multidisciplinary circus artist. In between engagements, she has taught a variety of youngsters and adults in different circus disciplines and can therefore look back on 16 years of teaching experience.

Franziska lives in Zurich and works in socioculture and as a circus and theater educator. She is constantly inspired by joint creative processes with different people. Franziska studied social work, attended Cirque Intense for a year and completed the Jojo circus pedagogy training course. Franziska is part of the management team at Fahr.werk.ö! and works in neighborhood work in Opfikon. In her free time, she trains at Zirkusquartier and enjoys being out in nature

Individual lessons cannot be booked. Entry during the current session is possible at any time if capacity is available. The price will be adjusted accordingly.

Course information:

General

  • The course takes place once a week (except during school vacations and public holidays)
  • Course duration: 75 minutes
  • Start: February 24 (from the end of the 2026 sports vacations)
  • End: July 7 (until the start of summer vacation 2026), 18 lessons in total

Trial lessons

  • Please book online.
  • The first lesson from the date of booking is always a trial lesson and costs CHF 20.
  • A final decision on the booking can then be made: The registration or deregistration for the entire course session must reach us by e-mail (kontakt@zirkusquartier.ch) three days after the trial lesson.
  • If you book and confirm the appointment, the trial lesson will be charged even if you do not attend.

Access

  • It is always possible to join the course during the current session if capacity is available.
  • Simply book online, the first lesson is a trial lesson.
  • You will only be charged from the definitive start date after the trial lesson.
