How can we develop a dramaturgy of circus movement in which physicality not only demonstrates technical virtuosity but also reveals the sensitivity and vulnerability of the performers on stage?

NoUs hauteurs is a piece centered entirely around the Chinese pole—the company’s central prop and a symbol of its circus-inspired artistic language. Five performers and a musician move through a space defined by five vertical poles. The entire dramaturgy of the production unfolds from this spatial structure.

The poles become a framework upon which the bodies tell their stories. Drawing on their individual experiences, memories, and feelings, the performers explore their limits and, at the same time, their pursuit of success, risk, and self-transcendence.

NoUs hauteurs combines artistic virtuosity with a deeply human dimension. The performance invites the audience to experience the company’s passion for the circus and to understand what drives them.

Reaching skyward yet firmly anchored to the ground, the poles are designed so that they can take root anywhere: on streets, in public squares, in fields, or in forests. At its core, the piece celebrates the power of coming together and creating as one, despite the challenges of our time.

Company

Cie Strates

Cie Strates stands for a form of contemporary circus that is physically intense, precisely choreographed, and accessible to everyone—regardless of social background or prior cultural experience. Their work fosters a sense of connection, invites the audience to become part of the artistic experience, and engages in a dialogue with the venues where they perform. In doing so, they are particularly committed to reaching people who face barriers to accessing art and culture and to realizing projects in social and care settings. By combining the Chinese pole, dance, acrobatics, and electro dance, the company expands the possibilities of contemporary circus art and creates spaces for freedom, dialogue, and shared experience.
