With CELLULA, Maja Zimmerlin and Umberto Freddi seek to push the boundaries of traditional stage art – movement, acrobatics and architecture merge into a living, breathing space. This mobile structure transforms public spaces into immersive experiences in which the audience not only watches, but feels time slow down, breath deepens and connection is created.
Marvel, rest, pulsate.
CELLULA rethinks theater: as an open, permeable form, as a sensual encounter between people, space and environment. Body and construction enter into a dialog that tells of rootedness and transformation – a poetic journey from darkness to light, from the innermost to the vastness.
The work on CELLULA is characterized by interdisciplinary exchange and the desire to open up new spaces – both physically and emotionally.
Company

Maja Zimmerlin & Umberto Freddi
CELLULA is initiated and directed by Maja Zimmerlin – award-winning dance filmmaker, choreographer, coach and mother of three. In close collaboration with the visual artist and designer Umberto Freddi, a walk-in structure is created in which architecture, light and movement merge into a poetic unity. His interdisciplinary signature gives CELLULA an unmistakable creative expression. The three performers – Kritonas Anastasopoulos, Leon Börgens and Branca Scheidegger – bring their diverse backgrounds in acrobatics, contemporary dance, street style and climbing to the performance
