At the Wagenvarieté, the circus wagons become stages: four artists from different disciplines take the audience into a wide variety of worlds with juggling, partner acrobatics, physical theater and magic.

The evening is moderated by magician Jamil Tafazzolian, with little tricks and musical accompaniment by Sibill Urweider.

The audience moves from show to show – from circus wagon to circus wagon, and in between there are delicious crêpes and hot drinks from the bar. The four short plays in a small space offer entertainment for all ages.

Let us take you on a magical journey in the enchanting glow of lights and wintry romance at the Güterbahnhof!

Prise de tête et cie
Acrobatics & Physical theater

Air Tight

Two artists, a very small stage and a constantly growing pile of inflatable objects. In this poetic and absurd duet, the space shrinks while the chaos grows – diabolos fly and bodies become entangled in a bizarre dance of adaptation. With acrobatics and a good dose of self-irony, two characters navigate the complexity of a shared space. This show, specially developed for micro venues such as the Wagenvarieté, transforms four square meters into a playground of invention, absurdity and connection.

Detours

Using musical and visual language, juggler Finn Waltersmann explores the multifaceted relationship that we as humans have with artificially created objects. To what extent do they serve us, and to what extent do they dictate our actions? The artist transforms juggling props, everyday objects and building materials into an equal counterpart. The interplay of light, sound and space creates bizarre, spectacular and poetic moments. In Detours, juggling, in its ambivalence between circus discipline and the art of movement, unfolds new effects as a means of expression and impression.

Variety Triché
Magic

La Liesse

With table magic and sleight of hand, Migi Schäli from Variaté Triché, the traveling magic and theater salon, brings great theater to the stage in the smallest of spaces. La Liesse is the fourth production of Varieté Triché and was conceived as an anniversary program to mark the tenth tour. The show is staged with verve and combines three new magic tricks to create a total work of art. Flat figures from puppet theater are used as an additional, cross-genre element. A magic spectacle for all ages!

Si le colibri
Juggling & Physical theater

Quarks

A one-woman show, accompanied by fleeting figures that appear through the manipulation of hats and coats. Big questions, on a small sofa, without answers and without pretensions. Sunday morning quantum physics. Circus with few words, maybe one or two puppets and a short journey through a possible afterlife. Juggler and performer Aude Cattin takes the audience into her absurd and gentle world in the circus wagon with juggling and other surprises.

Moderation

Jamil Tafazzolian

Jamil Tafazzolian is a magician, director and presenter – a crossover artist between illusion and the stage. Fascinated by theater, circus and classical music from an early age, he trained in acting, singing, choreography, piano and magic. He worked as a teacher, director and cultural manager, including at the Rosmarie Metzenthin Children’s and Youth Theater, and studied cultural management at the HSLU. As co-founder and artistic director of the La Poesia – Kleinkunst im Labor series and with projects in Zurich’s Zirkusquartier, he has been creating space for surprising stage formats for years. Today he works as a freelancer – for Schule & Kultur, TEDx Zurich, the Hotel Waldhaus Sils and Wagenvariété. Jamil is a creative inventor who builds bridges between people, arts and cultures with playful seriousness.

Sibill Urweider

Sibill Urweider may have studied classical piano, but her artistic curiosity has always gone far beyond that. Since her childhood, she has moved between musical styles, theater, singing and movement. She has toured Switzerland with bands, spent three years on the road with the circus Chnopf and teaches piano to people of all ages. Sometimes she composes for theater and circus, sometimes she tinkers with synthesizers or sings on rotating stages. She accompanies Jamil Tafazzolian’s magic in the Wagenvariété with a fine touch – and brings her versatility to the point.
