The Human Factor
The Human Factor is a collaboration between four circus artists, each with a different skill: tightrope, Chinese pole, aerial arts and dance acrobatics. All disciplines are – quite literally – taken apart, remixed and passed through all hands.
On stage, they work together to build a new structure for their circus apparatus, which of course needs to be tried out and explored further. Curious as they are, they are constantly looking for challenges and opportunities where they need the helping hands and minds of their friends – and maybe even those of the audience!
An instructive construction plan on paper contains the instructions for building their circus set. But perhaps the plan is not all that is needed to work together? During construction, they not only put the structures to the test, but also themselves and question the rigidity of the technology: shouldn’t we pay more attention to the human factor(s)?
The Human Factor invites everyone to dare to both build and deconstruct, to recognize their own strengths, to trust their intuition and to work as much as they play!
The piece was created in co-production with Zirkusquartier Zürich and will celebrate its premiere at the ZirQus 2024 festival!
Premiere: Wednesday, September 04, 7 p.m.
Hot Lines
Hot Lines is an unconventional circus collective that is currently in the starting blocks: freshly graduated in Tilburg, the Netherlands, they have joined forces.
They have their roots in Switzerland (Anna Kapp), France (Zéphyrine Charrier), the Netherlands (Rhea Slootweg) and the United Kingdom (Dana Rimdjonoka).
They are four female artists working together playfully in their first collaborative work.
The themes that have brought them together as a collective are: female sensibility, the
human factor in technology and a nerdy curiosity about their own circus disciplines – as well as those of others – and the architecture they can create in space with them.
They want to highlight a (female) role model who dares to both build and deconstruct, who relies on thorough planning as much as intuition, and who works as much as she plays.
