Circus Starter (4-6 years)

This course is aimed at pre-school children aged 4-6 years and is the follow-up course to the “Zirkuszwergli” course. It is not necessary to attend the preliminary course to participate.

We playfully develop strength, coordination and flexibility and practise the basic acrobatic figures on the floor – rolls, wheels, headstands and handstands. During the course, we get to know the various circus disciplines and try them out together.

The joy of movement and creativity in doing things together are just as important as the precise teaching of the basics. The children refine their self-awareness and strengthen their self-confidence: the best preparation for any further art of movement!

Clothing: Comfortable sportswear. Gym shoes or barefoot. In the winter months we recommend long training clothes for before and after the course. Children with long hair should have a hair tie with them.

Franziska Obrist

Franziska lives in Zurich and works in socioculture and as a circus and theater educator. She is constantly inspired by joint creative processes with different people. Franziska studied social work, attended Cirque Intense for a year and completed the Jojo circus pedagogy training course. Franziska is part of the management team at Fahr.werk.ö! and works in neighborhood work in Opfikon. In her free time, she trains in the circus area and enjoys being out in nature

General information

• Course information: The course takes place once a week (except during school vacations and public holidays) and lasts 60 minutes.
• Start of the course: August 22 (from the end of the 2024 school summer vacation)
• Course duration: 20 lessons until February 6 (until the start of the 2025 sports vacations)
• Course-free dates Thursday: 5.9. (Festival week at the Zirkusquartier) / 10.10. & 17.10. (Herbstferien) / 26.12. & 2.1.25 (Christmas vacation)
• Entry: It is always possible to join the course during the current session if there is free space. Just book online.
• First time bookings: The first one From the booking date, the first lesson is always a trial lesson and costs CHF 20. Then you can make a decision about continuation. Registration or de-registration for the whole session must be confirmed by email within three days of the trial lesson. (kontakt@zirkusquartier.ch) After that, the course is booked.
• Trial lesson: See new visitors section.
• Individual lessons cannot be booked, only the entire session from the start date, and the invoice will be adjusted accordingly.
• Discounts: LEGI & KULTURLEGI. For children’s courses, we also accept LEGI and KULTURLEGI from parents. We give a 5 franc discount per lesson on the second course booked.
